Fiji U-19 Women’s Team Departs for OFC Championship in Tahiti

The Fiji national U-19 Women’s football team has departed for Tahiti today to compete in the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship, carrying with them high hopes of showcasing Fiji’s growing strength in women’s football.

Head coach Angeline Chua has named a balanced squad that includes rising talents from the U-16 side as well as players who have already experienced the senior international stage.

“We’ve brought together a strong group of players for this tournament,” Chua said before departure.

“Some of them are coming through from the U-16s, while others already have senior international experience. That balance is important for us because it gives the younger girls role models on the field and ensures the team has the maturity needed to compete at this level.”

The squad has been training intensively over recent weeks, with a focus on fitness, discipline, and tactical preparation. Chua believes the mix of youth and experience will prove vital against tough regional opposition.

The tournament is expected to be fiercely competitive, but Chua is optimistic.

“We know this will be a very competitive championship, but the girls are ready. The squad has been training well, and the mix of youth and experience is what gives us confidence going into our first match.”

The Future Kulas will open their campaign against the Cook Islands on 25 September 2025 at 1:00 PM (FJT) at the Stade de Punaruu.

The final group stage fixture comes against Tonga on 28 September 2025 at 1:00 PM (FJT) at the Stade Paea.
