Fiji to host FIFA program meeting

FIFA has chosen the Fiji to host the FIFA Infrastructure workshop under the FIFA Forward Program in Fiji.

This is the first time Fiji FA has been given the honours of hosting a high profile IFA event in Fiji which will held on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 September at Novotel Conference Center in Lami.

The Infrastructure workshop will attract two participants from eleven OFC Members Associations.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said the he main objective of the workshop was to enable Oceania Football Condederation strategically reflect with experts in the fields of engineering, architecture and project management on developing and improving top sporting facilities.

“Fiji has been chosen because of its tremendous record in implementing FIFA infrastructure programmes and Fiji is hosting such a workshop is an indication that the country is doing things right, “said Yusuf

“One of the criteria that FIFA has used to select the host is the ability of the member association to, in this case Fiji FA has achieve the completion of a football infrastructure project under the FIFA Forward.

“But it is also the growth path that Fiji FA has taken in infrastructure development, like the progress made at the development of National Football Academy in Labasa where we started with tender process followed by a Gym at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.

“Hosting such high profile workshops is a proof of the confidence that FIFA has in the administrative, governance and financial management of Fiji FA because there were a lot of compliance issues that we had to adhere to before getting the approvals and continued funding for the projects. We vow to continue doing well in future projects,” he said

The seminar will be officially open by FIFA Council Member and Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel.
