Fiji set for Futsal Qualifiers

The Vodafone National Futsal team left no stones unturned as they prepared towards the OFC Futsal Nations Cup currently underway in New Caledonia.

Futsal head coach Mira Sahib a lot of things were done during their preparation camp since August.

“The preparation of the team really went well starting in August,” Sahib said.

“Players have shown lot of progress after transitioning from football to futsal which made our preparations much better.”

He said they believed in teamwork and the players were equally responding well as they progressed through the camp.

“The morale in camp has been high, the players are more like a family since most of the players have been playing together in u17, u20 and Olympics team.

“Players are taking ownership and responsibility in the camp which makes the work better for the whole team.”

Fiji was yet to play Tahiti in its opening match when this edition went to press.

Fiji plays Tonga at 4pm Fiji Time today before taking on Solomon Islands at 6pm tomorrow.

The winner of this championship qualifies to the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania next year.
