The first semi-final of the Digicel Fiji FACT 2024 is set to be an exhilarating match between host team Extra Supermarket Labasa FC and defending champions Flick Hygiene Lautoka FC.
Labasa FC has a rich history in the Fiji FACT finals when playing at home, having featured in three finals. In 1992, Labasa defeated Nadroga 1-0 to win the title. In 1995 they lost 0-4 to Suva FC and in 1999 the Babasiga Lions clinched the title by defeating Lautoka 2-1.
Labasa FC will have the huge support of their home fans at Subrail Park, who will act as their twelfth player. They have shown strong defensive capabilities in the group stages, netting two goals and achieving two nil-all draws. Labasa remains undefeated going into the semi-finals.
The Sugar City Boys have demonstrated a more offensive strategy, scoring goals but also conceding four across their two wins and a draw. Like Labasa, Lautoka is also undefeated in the tournament.
Both teams’ undefeated status adds to the competitive edge of the semi-final.
Fans can expect a high-energy match filled with strategic plays and intense competition. Labasa FC will look to leverage their home support to secure a win, while Lautoka FC will aim to continue their title defense with a strong performance. This semi-final promises to be a memorable encounter, showcasing the best football.
