The stage is set for an intense battle in this year’s Digicel Fiji FACT, with defending champions Lautoka FC facing a tough challenge in Group A against all western teams: Ba FC, Nadi FC, and Nadroga FC.
Meanwhile, Digicel Fiji Premier League leaders Rewa FC will contend with host Labasa FC, Navua FC, and Nasinu FC in Group B.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf says it’s going to be an exciting tournament.
“Looking at the pool draws I think it is going to be an exciting tournament as all teams will prepare accordingly for their opponents,” said Yusuf.
“No pool is tough as we have seen all teams coming well-prepared in the tournament,”
“The fans can expect an entertaining Digicel Fiji FACT this year as we have seen some mixed results in the Digicel Fiji Premier League,” said Yusuf.
Yusuf said it would be hard to predict who will win the first major tournament in the Fiji FA Calendar.
“I know the fans are excited as well, but I guess it will be hard to predict so early,” said Yusuf.
The first-round matches are scheduled for May 31st to June 2nd at Subrail Park in Labasa, with the semi-finals and final to follow the next weekend at a venue yet to be confirmed.
The winner will get $17,000, the runner-up $5,000 and the semi-finalists get $2,000 each.
