Fiji Football Association has welcomed the Fijian Government’s decision on easing the restrictions on sporting activities.
The Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Hon. Aiyaz-Sayed Khaiyum, announced yesterday that indoor and outdoor sporting events, including competitive sports, may be held with spectators at 80% capacity provided those spectators wear masks.
Fiji FA chief executive officer, Mohammed Yusuf, said the announcement was timely.
“This is good news for us as we will kick off the Digicel Premier League 2022 season this weekend and now we can have fans at the venues.
“I am sure the fans were eager to watch their teams play and they must be happy as well,” Yusuf said.
He said the teams were preparing well for the start of the season.
“This year we have ten teams in the DPL and they all have started their preparation with some new recruits,”
Yusuf said the live coverage on TV would continue despite restrictions being lifted.
“The pay-per-view on Walesi platform will continue as we have announced last week and fans can also come to the venues and watch their favorite teams in action as well.”
