Fiji FA to honour best individuals at awards night

The 2019 Vodafone/ Fiji Football Awards Night will be held on March 14, 2020 at Pullman Nadi Bay Resort in Nadi to acknowledge the hard work and commitment by both players and those behind the scenes in football in Fiji.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that awards night date had been set and circular sent to all the districts.

 “We want to acknowledge the commitment and hard work of those behind football and we request every district to send in their nominations.”

“The nomination will close on March 7.”

Yusuf said this year they would like to make this year’s more interesting and eventful.

“We are proud to have former Liverpool and Socceroos’ Harry Kewal as our chief quest,”said Yusuf

Yusuf said it was an opportunity for football managers to give recognition for the achievements made by the footballers that would have a lasting effect in his/her sporting career.

“Late nominations and incomplete documents will be not accepted, “he said.

Meanwhile Labasa goalkeeper and Captain Akuila Mateisuva and Siotame Kubu together with Suva’s Filipe Baravilala, Nadi’s Jeshal Kumar and Vodafone national U16,U19 and senior women team and Tailevu Naitasiri rep Adi Litia Bakaniceva have been nominated as Vodafone Popular Player of the Year Award.

The following award categories will be contested:

1.            Footballer of the Year (Male)

This category is aimed at those players who took part or achieved outstanding results in either local, regional or International Competitions.

2.            Footballer of the Year (Female)

This category is aimed at those players who took part or achieved outstanding results in either local, regional or International Competitions.

3.            Junior Male Footballer of the Year

The Junior Footballer of the Year the nominee must be under the age of 20 years as at 31 December of the year in which nominated. Proof of date of birth may be required.

4.            Coach of the Year – Male

The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.

5.            Coach of the Year – Female

The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.

6.            Referee of the Year

The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.

7.            Fair Play Player Award

The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year.

8.            Team of the Year

This award targets teams that have achieved top results for their sport either locally, abroad or both.

9.            Administrator of the Year (Premier Division)

The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.

10.         Administrator of the Year (Senior Division)

The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.

11.         Popular Footballer of the Year

This particular category is decided through public voting whereby 5 nominations are done by Fiji Football Association. These 5 nominations then go through public voting (texting competitions). The highest text getter becomes the Popular Footballer of the Particular year.

12.         Junior Women Footballer of the Year

The Junior Footballer of the Year (female) the nominee must be under the age of 20 years as at 30th December of the year in which nominated. Proof of date of birth may be required.

13.         Goal of the Year

The person nominated must have scored this goal in any Fiji FA Competition during the period “01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019”.

14.         Media Personality of the year

The person nominated must have been actively involved with Fiji FA events during the period “01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019”.

15.         Volunteer of the Year

16.  Employee of the year

The person nominated must have been actively involved during the period “01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019”.The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.
