Fiji FA stops all football

All Fiji Football Association events for next 14-days has been postponed, this was confirmed by chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.

Yusuf said in view of the Honorable Prime Minister’s address on Monday we wish to confirm that all football events for next two weekends has been postponed.

“The Digicel Premier League, Digicel Women’s Super League, Digicel Senior Men’s and Women’s League, Digicel Boys and Girls U19 and U16 Youth League and off course the grassroots development program have been on hold for next 14-days,”said Yusuf.

Yusuf said they would start the competition on May 8-9 weekend.

“We hope things get better and then will resume our competition on the weekend of May 8-9 which is just a week from the Digicel Fiji FACT,” said Yusuf

“We are thinking of completing the first round of the Digicel Premier League just before the week of the Digicel Fiji FACT,”

“We don’t want to risk any players because of the recent outbreak so we have taken the precautionary measures and the government’s advice”.

 “We want to urge all the players and officials to take precautions. Thus, the games will be played in later we can’t risk the lives of any players or officials,” said Yusuf

Yusuf confirms the national men’s and women’s squad camp was also given break.

“Our offices will be open as normal but under very strict covid protocols. Staff will be at the gate to do temperature checks, sanitizing, etc. before being allowed anyone in,” said Yusuf

He confirmed that the Gym in BA would be closed for next 14-days.

“The Academy grounds trainings will also be not available to avoid public gathering, “he said
