Fiji FA reschedules 2020 Football Calendar

The Fiji Football Association is planning to resume its domestic competition in July.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said this can only be possible if the restrictions are uplifted.

“We are just hoping the restrictions will be over and even though there will be no boarder openings for international matches, we want to continue with our competitions so the players can get back into the field and begin with the their preparations and competitions,” said Yusuf.

Yusuf said this would call for the competition dates to be revised and rescheduled.

He said they have put up a tentative plan which would be put before the Board of Control (BOC) next month.

“We have proposed to resume Vodafone Premier League on July 01 and finish off both rounds by November 08.

“We are also planning to start the Vodafone Senior League in July and play first five rounds by August and second round resumes in September and finishes in November,” he said.

Yusuf said they had planned one round competition for Vodafone Women’s Senior League.

“We are proposing one round competition in the Women’s Senior League which is to start in July as well and finishes off in September.”

Yusuf also mentioned the Vodafone U19 and U16 Boys League will resume in July and expected to finish in September with final play-offs in December.

“We are planning to organize a tournament format for U19 and U16 Boys and Girls League to replace our Ultimate Cup tournament this year in December.”

He said they have two proposed plans for the Vodafone Fiji FACT.

“The Board will decide on two scenarios whether we can have it in late November and cancel the Pacific Cup concept and have another tournament under a new format with invitation to some of the top senior division teams to be part of the competition, “Yusuf said

A proposal will also be sent to the BOC to change the dates for the Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) 2020.

“For Courts IDC, we are bringing it back to the Fiji Day holiday because the only reason was it to be played in the end of October was to allow for the FIFA International Window for the World Cup Qualifiers and now that it has shifted, this gives us the opportunity to bring back the IDC on Fiji Day weekend,” said Yusuf

The INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants would be played in August.
