The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has announced that it is re-evaluating the contract of the national women’s head coach, Angeline Chua, following underwhelming performances in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup.
During the Fiji FA Council Meeting, held at the association’s headquarters in Vatuwaqa last Sunday, Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel cited concerns over poor team performance and a lack of structural cohesion, despite significant investments in the women’s program.
“At the request of the coach, we brought in six overseas-based players, yet only a few—such as Cema Nasau—were utilized effectively,” said Patel.
With the Women’s World Cup qualifiers set to commence in November 2025, Patel emphasized that the association is exploring options to restructure the women’s program, which may include a change in coaching leadership before the qualifiers begin. Coach Chua’s current contract runs through February 2026.
“This is a pivotal moment for women’s football in Fiji. We are determined to put the right systems and leadership in place to ensure our best chance at qualification,” added Patel.
