All Fiji Football Association events for December has been postponed, this was confirmed by chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.
Yusuf said due to the Cyclone warning and associated adverse weather forecast, all Fiji FA events scheduled for December 2020 has been postponed to January 2021.
“The Vodafone National Regional Club Championship (NCC) which was supposed to be held from this Thursday to Sunday has been postponed and will now be played in January.”
“The first round will be played from January 8-10 and the final play-offs will be held form 14-17 January,”
“This is also a great opportunity for players to relax with their families as they are taking heed of the warnings by the Fiji Meteorological department,” Yusuf said
“We don’t want to risk any players because of the cyclone roaming over Fiji and for that reason we have shifted it to next year. We hope the weather gets fine and everything settles and calms down then only in mid-January after CVC we can have the NCC played.”
Yusuf said the first ever Fiji FA Club Licensing and Competitions Workshop which was scheduled this weekend has been postponed to January 16 and 17.
“Fiji FA Council Meeting which was supposed to be held on Saturday 19 December 2020 will now be held on Saturday 16 January 2021,”said Yusuf
“Vodafone U19 Youth League (playoff) which was supposed to be played from 18 to 20 December will now be played in January 2021 as well,”
“We want to urge all the players and officials to take precautions. Thus, the games will be played in later January because we can’t risk the lives of any players or officials,” said Yusuf
Meanwhile the 2021 season will kick start in January with Vodafone Premier League winners Suva and Courts IDC champions Labasa in a two leg Champion vs Champion series in January.
