The Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel, its Board members and the entire football fraternity is saddened to learn the passing away of former national,Tailevu Naitasiri and Nadroga rep and also Nadroga Football Association president Lalit Singh.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel acknowledged the supreme contribution of Singh on the football arena.
“He had been a great footballer and an inspirational leader of his time guiding Nadroga in early 2000,”said Patel
Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf added that Singh was also part of the national team that played Christchurch United in 1980’s.
“After ending his playing career he administered Nadroga FA as president and under his leadership Nadroga won the 2001 Fiji FACT and 2002 Battle of the Giants title,”
“He was also awarded with the Fiji FA Administrator of the Year Award in 2002,”said Yusuf.
“He was also the manager of National under 17 side in 90’s.
Yusuf said he was my senior in my playing days and was instrumental in getting Cuvu College to win the Fiji Secondary Schools IDC in 1972 at Prince Charles Park.
“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rest in peace.”
He will be laid to rest on Wednesday at 1pm at Cuvu Cemetery in Sigatoka.
