Fiji FA launches Talent Promotion Program

More than 60 players participated in the launch of McDonald’s Talent Promotion event during the Digicel Fiji FACT 2024 at Subrail Park in Labasa over the weekend.

Fiji FA Head of Talent Development, Sunil Kumar says that this initiative is a pilot project launched in Labasa.

“Kids from the age of 9-15 years showcased their talents during the halftime break of the matches in all the age categories,” said Kumar.

“This event provided a platform for young talents to display their football skills, engaging the community and promoting the development of football from a grassroots level.

Kumar says the initiative aims to identify and nurture young talent, contributing to the future of Fijian football.

“This idea is taken from our visit to the Sydney FC Academy this year which is directly linked to FIFA Talent Development Scheme.

‘’Sydney FC also does similar programs during their matches,” said Kumar

He added that they will continue this program at all major tournaments.

‘’After the launch in Labasa we will run this program at BOG and IDC and also in some of DPL Matches.
