The Fiji Football Association inducted seven suitable candidates as its Regional Development Officers last week in Ba.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf says the seven will be based full-time in their respective districts looking after the development of football.
“This is a milestone achievement for Fiji FA as they will be fully equipped and paid to ensure football is developed in all the districts,” said Yusuf
“We had advertised for ten officers but only seven were confirmed and went through a workshop last week in Ba and three more will come on board in a week’s time.
“We have an officer who will work for Nadroga, one for Tavua, and Rakiraki, one for Navua and Lami, one for Suva and Nasinu, one for Labasa, Seaqaqa, and Nadogo, one for Dreketi, and Bua and one Savusavu, and Taveuni.
“We are looking for suitable candidates for Rewa, Tailevu Naitasiri and Northland Tailevu Zone, Lautoka Zone, and Nadi Zone,” said Yusuf
Yusuf says the officers will play a vital role in the administration and development work in their respective districts.
“Their responsibilities will be to lead all football development activities in their respective districts in close coordination with the Head of Football Development West, South, and North and the Fiji FA Development Officers.
‘They will also coordinate the U9, U11, U13, and U15 McDonald’s Talent Development League and assist the coaches, led the Talent Identification Program in the district, and identify the most talented boys and girls players and coaches. And to ensure every talent is given a chance to showcase their talent,”
Yusuf says they will also need to work closely with the Fiji FA Competitions Department.
“They will work in close cooperation with the Fiji FA Competition Department to ensure all youth and senior competitions for football including the regional leagues, futsal, and beach soccer in the district are run in the best possible way,” said Yusuf
“They will also support clubs and coaches with administration and organisational works.”
