Fiji Football Association yesterday honored one of its most successful referee with a legends medal.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf presented the legend’s medal to former Fiji FA and FIFA referee Gopal Khanna at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.
Yusuf said Fiji FA was not just honoring the former players but also referees and administrators.
“We are not only recognizing the hard work put in by the former players only but we are proud to honor our referees and former administrators, “said Yusuf.
“These people have created the impact on Fiji and Khanna is one of them,”
Yusuf said Gopalan was one of the greatest referee to come out of Fiji during his time
Khanna who resides in USA said he was proud to be honored by Fiji FA.
‘I am so happy today (yesterday) that we are recognized by Fiji FA for our contribution to the sport in Fiji,”
“I think it is a good initiative by Fiji FA Board led by Rajesh Patel to honour former football players, referees and administrators.
