Fiji FA clear the air

The Fiji Football Association has responded to the critics on social media regarding the participation of newly transferred players to Labasa and Suva in the upcoming Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series.

Chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said there had been lots of critics on social media regarding new players eligibility in playing in the CVC.

“Let me clarify that if any player is once transferred in the transfer window period is eligible to play for his or her new district, “said Yusuf

“Just say for an example if a Labasa player is transferred to Suva in the transfer window and his transfer is processed he becomes a Suva player and he is eligible to play.”

Powerwise (NZ) and Standard Hire Labasa side will have the services of former Nasinu and Solomon Islander Marlon Taihoa, Nasinu defenders Sekove Naivakanuni, Jone Naraba and Isikeli Ratucava who all have been cleared in the transfer window likewise Suva got Lautoka striker Shazil Ali, midfielder Merrel Nand, Rewa’s Mohammed Ramzan who are all cleared to play this weekend.

The first leg of the 2020 Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series will be played on Friday at 7pm at ANZ Stadium in Suva while the return leg on Sunday at 3pm at the same venue.
