The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is making a highly anticipated return after a three-year hiatus, with 15 prestigious awards up for grabs, supported by a new sponsor—Extra Supermarket.
The partnership promises to make this year’s Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards event bigger and better.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yusuf, highlighted the importance of the event in uniting the football community and recognizing the efforts of individuals and teams within the sport.
“The awards night is to bring the football fraternity together after a three-year hiatus to acknowledge the achievements and dedication of the clubs,” Yusuf said.
This year’s event will honor the exceptional contributions of players, coaches, teams, officials, and volunteers across Fiji’s football scene.
Yusuf called on all 20 Fiji FA-affiliated clubs to ensure their members are recognized for their hard work and dedication.
“We urge all clubs to send in their nominations for the hard work of their players, coaches, officials, and volunteers,” he added.
“We encourage clubs to participate and ensure their stars shine at the awards night.
Yusuf confirmed that this year’s Awards Night will feature several new categories to honor the diverse contributions within Fiji’s football community.
“This year’s awards include Footballer of the Year Male, Footballer of the Year Female, Young Footballer of the Year Male, Young Footballer of the Year Female, Futsal Player of the Year (Male/Female), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Goal of the Year, Media Personalty of the Year and Employee of the Year,” said Yusuf.
“The expanded categories aim to recognize a wider range of achievements across both football and futsal, as well as acknowledge the vital roles played by administrators, coaches, referees, volunteers, and employees in the development of the sport in the country.
“With the inclusion of these new awards, the Fiji FA Awards Night promises to celebrate the achievements and dedication of individuals across all aspects of the game.
The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night 2024 will be held on December 1 at Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi.
