Four schools in Kadavu were introduced to the FIFA Football for Schools Curriculum last month.
Fiji FA Technical Director Timo Jankowski confirmed that the launch occurred at Namara District School, Ratu Nacagilevu School, Muani Village School, and Namalata District School.
“This initiative aims to promote football development at the grassroots level in the Maritime Islands,” Jankowski stated.
He observed strong interest from the schools, adding, “The four schools appreciated Fiji FA’s initiative and FIFA’s support in launching the program on the island.
There are a lot of potential and passionate footballers, and this curriculum will undoubtedly help mold them into future stars in football.”
Jankowski further noted that the Fiji FA has rolled out the curriculum in over 130 schools, providing more than 1,000 footballs and other equipment.
“The FIFA Football for Schools program has extended to regions including Yasawa, Kadavu, and Levuka.
Football for Schools (F4S) is a collaborative initiative by FIFA and UNESCO aimed at contributing to the education, development, and empowerment of approximately 700 million children worldwide.
The program strives to make football more accessible to boys and girls by integrating football activities into the educational system and aligning with global sports, education, and health policies.
The curriculum supports targeted life skills and competencies through football, contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other international priorities.
