Flowserve Engineering Navua FC is certainly a team to watch in this year’s Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants. Their history of causing upsets, combined with a squad that blends experience and youth, makes them a potential threat to the more established teams.
It’s been a long time since Navua last tasted victory in a major tournament, but their determined efforts and strong performances this season signal a promising future. Their lone BOG title came in 2005 when they defeated Rewa 1-0 in the final at the National Stadium in Suva. This year, their runner-up finish at the Digicel Fiji FACT highlights their capability and determination to reclaim their former glory.
Under the leadership of President Rajeev Prasad, Navua has formed a formidable team that has shown promise and resilience. They begin their campaign against defending champions Extra Supermarket Labasa FC on Friday, July 26 at 7 pm. Their second match is against Smart Security/Calgary Nadi FC on Saturday, July 27 at 1 pm, followed by their final Group B match against Flick Hygiene Lautoka FC on Sunday, July 29 at 10 am.
