Nasinu FC and Tailevu Naitasiri FC will miss out on the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants (BOG) Tournament 2024.
Despite Nasinu’s recent 1-0 win over Rooster Chicken Ba FC in round 12, which moved them up to the eighth position, they will not participate in the BOG. Suva, the host, qualifies for the tournament even though they are in ninth place.
The Digicel Fiji Premier League points table is currently highly competitive, especially between Extra Supermarket Rewa FC and Extra Supermarket Labasa FC.
Both teams have 27 points, but the Delta Tigers (Rewa) lead with a superior goal difference of 27 compared to Babasiga Lions’ (Labasa) 22.
Recent matches saw Labasa secure a 1-0 victory over Flick Hygiene Suva FC with a goal from Christopher Wasasala in the 15th minute, while Rewa defeated Tailevu Naitasiri 1-0 with a goal from Josaia Sela in the 31st minute.
Lautoka FC has moved back to third position after a 3-2 win over Sugar City Rentals/Nadroga Marine Upholstery Nadroga FC, accumulating 19 points.
Ba remains in fourth place with 18 points despite their 0-1 loss to Nasinu FC, tied with Nadi FC, who drew 2-2 with Navua FC last weekend. Ba’s better goal difference keeps them ahead of Nadi.
Navua sits in sixth position with 17 points, Nadroga in seventh with 14 points, Nasinu in eighth with 12 points, Suva in ninth with nine points, and Tailevu Naitasiri at the bottom with eight points.
The pool draw for the BOG Tournament will be done this week.
The group stages of the Rooster Chicken/Scoop Ice Cream BOG will be played from July 26-28 and knockout stages are a week later at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
