Doors still open

The national U16 head coach Sunil Kumar is calling out on the youths to continue giving their best performance in the Vodafone Youth League as the doors for selection is still open.

A trial camp for four days was conducted at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba which concludes today.

Kumar said the selection process is still on.

“We had a total of 35 players coming in for the first trials who were selected solely on their performance from the Vodafone Youth Leagues,” he said.

“It’s not over yet. We are preparing for the OFC championship which will be held next year, so we have already started calling out for trials.

“A few more trial camps will be conducted before we select the final extended squad sometimes next year and as such, this gives a chance to all those players who have missed out on this camp to show up in the leagues in order to get selected for the national trials.”

Kumar said it was a fruitful camp this week.

“Yes, we had a good four days of camp and we know that we have a lot to work on in the coming months.”
