Defending champion on track

The Vodafone Women’s Inter District Championship (IDC) defending champion Ba had a promising start of its 2020 campaign after a convincing 7-0 win over Best Fish & Chips Nadi in its opening group match at ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

National rep Cema Nasau registered a hat-trick, Louisa Simmons scored a brace while Koleta Likuculacula and Aliza Hussein got a goal each.

In the opening match of the Vodafone Women’s IDC 2020, hosts Suva came out firing and recorded an impressive 6-1 win over Nasinu in the group A fixture.

Torika Delai got the opener early into the game before Nasinu fought back to equalize in the 16th minute with the boots of Livia Tavuyara.

Then it was all over Suva. Delai got her second, Litia Bolaivanua extended the lead before dual international Viniana Riwai scored a hat trick to seal the win.

Lincoln Rewa also came determined as they recorded a winning start with a 4-0 victory over Lomawai Kava Supplies Nadroga.

Timaima Vuniyayawa scored a brace while Lora Bukalidi and Ilisapeci Korosinu got a goal each.

In the final match of day one, Safetech Electrical Services Labasa stole the show of the night with a 4-0 win over Southern champions Tailevu Naitasiri.

Adi Volitikoro, Selai Nai, Shayal Sindhika and Vitalina Naikore scored a goal each for the Labasa women’s side.
