Bula Boys play Tahiti in third/fourth place play-off

After a tough battle against Vanuatu in the second semi-final of the OFC Men’s Nations Cup 2024, the Digicel Fiji Bula Boys aim to finish in third place.

Fiji will face Tahiti in the third/fourth place play-off on Sunday.

Head coach Rob Sherman is optimistic that the Bula Boys can improve their previous performance against Tahiti, where they secured a 1-0 victory in their final pool match in Suva.

Despite the 1-2 loss to the host nation, Sherman expressed satisfaction with the players’ effort.

“Well, it was a close-fought game, it was quite scrappy. I thought we did well in the second half, a little bit disappointed but on the set play, especially since it was something we worked on. But the boys gave their absolute 100%, and that’s all you can ask really.”

Sherman acknowledges that the mood in camp is not good following the semi-final defeat, and he aims to lift the players’ spirits and motivate them to secure the bronze medal.

The Digicel Bula Boys will face Tahiti in the third-place play-off on Sunday at 12pm. Vanuatu will take on New Zealand in the final on Sunday at 4pm.
