The Fiji football side started its campaign at the 2023 Pacific Games on a high note with a 10-0 victory against Northern Marianas in Honiara.
The Roy Krishna-captained side dominated the match from the first whistle which saw youngster Nabil Begg score on his debut in the opening minute with a classic goal.
Fijian wonder boy Roy Krishna netted a hat trick with his first goal in the sixth minute and his second two minutes later making it 3-0 before sensational striker Sairusi Nalaubu netted a goal to put Fiji into a 4-0 lead.
Krishna completed his hat trick in the 35th minute while Nalaubu scored his second to take Fiji into a 6-0 lead at the halftime break.
The second half started with a bang as substitute debutant Etonia Dogalau scored within minutes, extending Fiji’s lead to 7-0 and another debutant substitute Thomas Dunn made an impact, finding the back of the net as Fiji extended the lead to 9-0 against Northern Marianas. An own goal by the Northern Marianas earlier added to the commanding performance.
Gabrielle Matanisiga made his mark on his debut, scoring for Fiji and sealing the victory for the Bula Boys.
The Rob Sherman-coached side will face Tahiti in its final Group match tomorrow (Tuesday, November 21) at 8pm (FT) at SIFF Field.
