An emotional Rewa FC president Nazeel Buksh praised his players for giving the Delta Tigers its first-ever National League title.
Buksh said it was a challenging year for them.
“This year was tough for everyone but for us, it was an exciting season for us as we played the most number of matches,” he said.
“We went to OFC Champions League and we had a mixed outing there and coming back and playing back to back 90 minutes football which was taking a toll on our players but these players stuck together and showed never say die attitude.
“They knew what the goal was for them and with the support of the entire royal Rewa fans and the families of the players we finally achieved what we aimed for a long time,” said Buksh
Buksh, who has been leading the Rewa FC for the past seven years president said it was a sweet victory.
“I took over Rewa in 2018 and my aim was to win the league which we all the officials worked together and it’s like a dream come true for all of us,”
‘It’s been a pleasure for everyone to be involved in the association and the team and seeing the DPL ending this way, a dramatic weekend, a dramatic minute and seconds, and just a beautiful ending which was a very competitive Digicel Premier League season,” said Buksh
Meanwhile, former Ba and Lautoka striker Abbu Zaid who donned the Rewa jumper this season says he was proud to be part of the winning team.
“Since I donned the red jumper, I received numerous criticism, but only my family and I know the struggles I have been through. Winning the League with Rewa Football Club wasn’t just another thing as a player but the most important thing for me this year. This is the first League win for us Delta Tigers. This win is too sweet,” “Shukriya Allah for this sweet victory. Thanks to all the Rewa wives and families for their support. Your prayers and cheers made this possible.”
“Makes me happy to say that this is my 6th Premier League.”
