Battle of the coaches

IT is going to be a battle of coaches as well when the National Premier League kicks off this weekend.

There has been movement of senior coaches as well some of the youth team coaches taken the challenge to guide their teams this season.

Renowned coach Kamal Swamy is taking the charge of Ba, Swamy had winning stints with the Nadi, Suva and Lautoka teams and has been given the challenge to bring back the loss glory for the Men-in-Black after former coach Ronil Kumar left due to work commitment.

Former Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasriri coach Tagi Vonolagi is guiding Lautoka this season.

Former Rewa and Tailevu Naitasiri rep Rodicks Singh who was the coach for the Rewa U19 Youth side has been appointed to mentor the Delta Tigers while former Lautoka assistant coach Amit Prakash has taken the duties to coach Navua.

Former Nadroga coach Ramesh Sharma is once again given the task to guide the Stallions in the top division while Labasa has the service of former U19 Youth coach Ravneel Pratap who has proved his worth during the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion title win.

Former Ba and national U17 coach Shalen Lal has taken the charge of Nadi side while Babs remains the coach of the Suva side.

Looking at the National Premier League round one fixtures, Labasa will host Ba at Subrail Park in Labasa this Saturday at 1.30pm.

On Sunday Suva will take on Rewa at the ANZ Stadium, Nadroga will host Nadi while Navua will travel to Churchill Park to face Lautoka. All matches will kick off at 3pm.
