The Rewa U19 Youth side remain unbeaten in the Vodafone U19 Youth League after they defeated Tailevu Naitasiri 2-0 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Sunday.
Despite the win, Rewa coach Rodrick Singh was frustrated with the performance of his players.
“To be honest we are very fortunate to be victorious today (Sunday) because we didn’t play the way we were supposed to play but fortunately we managed to win, “
“Some of the players didn’t step up may be they were more excited to play at Ratu Cakobau Park but we will have to improve come our next match, “said Singh
Singh said he was disappointed as some players didn’t followed the game plan.
“There were lots of individual play and the some of them did not followed simple instructions like where they needed to pass they didn’t but where they didn’t needed to pass they passed and these are simple things which the players don’t follow which was our down fall today (Sunday), Singh said.
The former Rewa rep said the experience in his side was the strength behind their win.
“We were lucky enough to have some experience players to get us through because Tailevu Naitasiri was a quality team and had their game plan but the experience in our side denied them the game plan,” added Singh
Tailevu Naitasiri coach Intiaz Hussein Ali was proud of his side’s performance despite the defeat.
“I am not disappointed with the result but I am proud that the boys played their heart out in the match against a more experience side,” said Ali
The Nausori school teacher who was newly appointed to coach the team said his first match with the team has given a lot to work on.
“This was my first game with the boys and I have seen a lot of potential which has given me some ideas where to work and improve,” said Ali
He thanked Tailevu Naitasiri officials and players for having faith in him.
“I am thankful to TNFA for giving me an opportunity to coach the team and understanding that it is impossible to get the winning result overnight.
