Ba leads league

The Ba football side has taken an early lead in the Digicel Premier League after the end of two rounds of competition last weekend.

The Online IT Solutions sponsored Ba side leads the DPL points table with four points with superior goal difference with Suva and Lautoka who also have four points.

The Kamal Swamy coached side defeated Nadi 4-1 last Sunday while Unique Rubber Stamp Suva was held to a 1-1 draw by Moshin’s Insulation Nadroga and Viti Water Flow Lautoka side were held 1-1 against Rewa.

Navua and Labasa played to a nil-all draw. Labasa is on fourth position with two points together with Nadroga.

Nadi, Rewa and Navua all have 1 point each but goal difference sees the Jetsetters slip to the bottom of the table.

Five teams are currently unbeaten in the competition which includes Ba, Suva, Lautoka, Labasa and newcomers Nadroga.

Another round of exciting matches will be played this weekend at four venues.

On Saturday Labasa will host Rewa at Subrail Park in Labasa at 1.30pm while other matches will be played on Sunday at 3pm.

At ANZ Stadium Suva will face Navua, Nadroga will battle Ba at home while Nadi and Lautoka will meet at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf says fans can expect another round thrilling encounters this weekend.

“We have seen the level of competition in the two rounds and all the teams are equally competitive this season,” said Yusuf

“All teams are playing structured and organised football and I am sure the fans love watching their teams in action,”

Yusuf said it was good see the fans coming out numbers at all the venues.

“It is great to see the support for district teams growing and people coming out in numbers to boost their teams.”
