The Ba FC has ended Suva’s 10-match unbeaten run in the Digicel Premier beating the Capital City Boys 3-0 in round 11 of the competition at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Sunday.
The Men in Black outclassed Suva in all aspects of the match.
Ba goalkeeper Tevita Koroi played a man of the match performance and denied Suva an early lead with saves from Anish Khem and Azariah Soromon.
Saula Waqa stunned Suva fans after a cross from Praneel Naidu which was headed towards goal by Savenaca Nakalevu but cleared by the defence landed in the path of lanky Saula Waqa who slammed the ball into the back of the net to put Ba ahead in the 16th minute.
Suva sent in Samuela Drudru in Peniasi Rotidara’s place to add experience and strength to their attack but the visitors held onto their slender lead at halftime.
Entonio Dogalau doubled Ba’s advantage in the 51s minute after Kini Madigi’s shot at goal came off the post and Dogalau who was at the right spot at the right time netted the goal..
Suva’s misery continued as midfield and defence play stumbled against a more fired-up Ba attack, and this saw defender Manasa Nawakula claim the third goal in the 54th minute.
The introduction of Malakai Rakula, Joeli Ranitu and Waisake Navunigasau did not make much impact for the Whites Soromon, Rakula and Khem had chances to pull one back for Suva but Koroi’s brilliant form between the sticks kept the scores unchanged till the final whistle.
Ram’s Cleaning Services Suva still stays on top with 24 points while Ba has moved to the second spot with 22 points.
Ba Coach Imdad Ali says they have gotten a confidence boost and he hopes this will motivate the players to do well in the remaining rounds of the Digicel Premier League.
Ali says winning against Suva is a huge achievement as Suva is still the top team on the table.
“We’ve sort of bounced back and beaten Suva’s record which is very good for Ba”
He says they will continue to focus on the task at hand.
Ali is calling on the support of its fans in the next round of the premier league.
The three points give Ba a total of 22 points, two away from the Whites with 24.
