Assessors to help improve refereeing

The Member Association (MA) Referees’ Assessors and Fitness Instructors Course was held at the Fiji FA Headquarters in Suva last weekend.

A total of 15 participants were at the two-day course which was conducted by the Fiji FA Referees Development Officer and FIFA Instructor Rakesh Varman.

Varman said in order to improve the referees, they have to improve the level of training with the instructors.

“We realised that we have to work with the instructors and invest in them,” he said.

“It is equally important to also equip those responsible for educating the referees and keeping them up to speed with the latest development in world football.

He said the aim is to develop and improve the performance of registered referees in all matches at all levels.

“These assessors will now be tasked to assess the referees’ performance on match days, give them immediate feedbacks and coach them to improvement from their past performances.”
