Anil Sharma, the national team director said the senior men’s squad members were released last Saturday following the team Fiji assembly in Suva.
“The players have been released for two weeks as they join their respective teams for the 2011 Inkk Mobile BOG,” he said.
The national team director, said both the men’s and women’s squad will be back in camp after the BOG as they prepare for a series of international tests against the Samoa national men’s and women’s side.
“The final squads for both the men’s and women’s side will be revealed after the BOG where the coaching staff will be closely monitoring the players. Immediately after the BOG the squad members will assemble to prepare for the series against Samoa,” Sharma said.
“These tests will be a very important one for us as this will assist us as a build up for the Pacific Games.”
The national men’s squad continued with their training sessions at the Dr. M. S Sahu Khan National Football Academy in Ba.
Coach Gurjit Singh has been working tirelessly to see the national side prepare well to win gold at the regional meet.
The 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia will be held from August 27 to September 10.
