Two Beach Slots for OFC in 2013

Tahiti will gain automatic entry into the FIFA event next year as host of the championship while the second slot will be filled by the top qualifier from the Oceania region.
Top gun Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji at the moment are the competitive sides which have participated sides in the last two Oceania beach soccer playoffs.
Bob Kumar, the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) said this was an ideal opportunity for our national side.
“Fiji has participated in the past two Oceania playoffs and it was quite visible that if we try a bit harder we can easily qualify for the World Championship,” Kumar said.
“Next year Oceania has been allocated two slots which mean that two teams from this region will take part in this FIFA event. With Tahiti gaining an automatic does not mean that it will be an easy path to qualify as other sides like Solomon’s and Vanuatu will also be gunning for a place.”
“Fiji FA will soon be planning on how we will approach the playoffs and map out a strategy.”
Tahiti beat Solomon Islands in the last Oceania playoffs in 2011 to qualify for the FIFA beach soccer championship. Fiji lost to Solomon’s and Tahiti to bow out of the championship.
