With victories over Solomon’s Club Koloale and Vanuatu club champions Amicale in the bag, Singh says Hekari will present Lautoka with their toughest challenge in the new O-League season so far.
“We are looking forward to the Hekari match. They are a good side but for us there is a lot of room for improvement needed and we will have to work hard for this game,” Singh said.
Defending O-League champions Hekari United will have the services of Fiji players Malakai Tiwa, Alvin Singh, Pita Bolaitoga, Simione Tamanisau and Tuimasi Manuca who are well aware of Lautoka’s style of play.
Lautoka has topped Group A following their 1-0 victory over Amicale last Saturday at Govind Park in Ba.
Striker Valerio Nawatu proved to be the hero as his lone first half 19th minute goal was enough to guide Lautoka. Lautoka is now with six points on top of group A after two wins, they beat Koloale 2-1 earlier.
Singh the Lautoka coach says the victory has set the right platform for them in the remainder of the 2010-2011 O-League season.
“It was a good win for us which now sees us top the pool. The game was evenly played. We played the first half and they came back strong in the second half. Our players worked hard for the victory,” he said.
A disappointed Amicale coach William Malas said his side was not up for the challenge.
“We came here for a win but it was not our day. The lack of concentration and indiscipline cost us. We will now go back and prepare for the match against Koloale,” he said.
Meanwhile Richard Anisua of Amicale argued with the referee after the final whistle in an unsporting manner and thus was sent off.
