At Theodore Park, Weet-Bix Vatukoula fell short to Rakiraki which claimed a close 3-2 victory.
A strong start for Rakiraki seemed to be the difference between the two sides as Madhavan Goundar gave Rakraki the lead just 12 minutes in the match.
In the second half Janardhan Goundar scored Rakiraki ‘s second which seemed to wrap the match for the visitors but it only sparked Vatukoula’s comeback.
Homeside Vatukoula fought back and in a space of six minutes scored two quick goals to level the scores at 2-2. First Ronil Lal in the 60th and later Maikeli Sivo 66th scored for Vatukoula.
Their joy was short lived as seven minutes later Madahavn Goundar broke the hearts of the Vatukoula fans as his 75th goal proved to be the match winner.
Nalawa from two consective victories maintains the lead on the Western zonal Premier Division standings. The victory moves Rakiraki to second place who are now with three points. Winless Vatukoula are third with zero points.
In the Southern division, Nivea Nasinu scored a goal in each half to pull off a 2-0 victory over rival Royal Tea Tailevu North at the TFL National Stadium in Suva.
A 29th minute first half goal by Rahul Chaudhary gave Nasinu a handy 1-0 lead at the break. Tailevu North searched for an equaliser but came out empty handed. Any hopes of a fairy tale comeback were dashed when referee Jainut Dean awarded Nasinu a penalty on the 69th minute.
Former Suva rep Asis Chand stepped up the mark and made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
