Their New Zealand based O-league group opponent Waitakere United head to Fiji this week to play a pair of friendly matches against Rewa and Ba.
National champion Ba has been drawn in a tough group along with AS Mont Dore (New Caledonia), AS Tefana (New Caledonia) and Waitakere United (NZ) for the 2011-2012 O-League.
Rishi Kumar, the Ba Football Association president believes this friendly encounter will be a useful one for his side.
“We will be using this match as a build up for the O-League. The Inter District Championship is coming up but we cannot say that we will use that as a build up because that is 60 minutes football,” Kumar said.
Waitakere beat Rewa 4-1 in NZ last Sunday and hoping for a similar fate come this Friday night, 7.15pm at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. On Sunday the visitors travel to the
Western division and will face Ba this Sunday 2pm at Govind Park.
Rex Dawkins, the chairman of the Waitakere Football Club on the other hand said this was an opportunity for them to try out few new talents.
“There is no alterior motive playing Ba as the time between this game and the O-league first leg is over two months. We do not have to finalise our team until 29th September so this will give us an opportunity to give our trialists some game time,” Dawkins said.
