The Fiji primary school Inter District champions put up a good show but were not able to find the back of the net.
Mont Dore tactically proved to be the better side but the baby delta tiger’s defence countered numerous attempts to deny the visitors. Both sides had equal possession which indeed was a treat for fans to witness an exciting, fast paced match.
Rewa U-14 coach Raju Goundar was pleased with the overall result but believes his side could have done better.
“It was a very good game but I believe the lack of preparation may have been an affecting factor for us. We just had six days to prepare for the match and some boys came in very late but overall we faced a good team. We will out for nothing less than a victory in the next match,” Goundar said.
Mont Dore coach Raymond Dinne speaking through an interpreter Pierre Dongol who was instrumental in bringing Mont Dore team to Fiji says they have been impressed with Rewa.
“Rewa physically was very strong and they have got some very good players. We are here to learn more about Fiji and see how football is played here compared to New Caledonia. The match against the Rewa U-14 was a good one for our player,” Dinne said.
Rewa U-14 face As Mont Dore on Saturday 4pm. Mont Dore then travels to Nadi on Monday before facing the Nadi U-14 side on Tuesday.
