Two super premier matches between Navua-Labasa and Nadroga-Nadi were played before referee Rakesh Varman declaring the pitch in an unplayable condition.
The match was delayed for 30 minutes before Fiji FA officials met and decided on the outcome based on the referee’s recommendation.
Fiji FA President Dr. Muhammed Shams-UD-Dean Sahu Khan elaborated further.
“The rain became very heavy and then of course we tried to continue but the second last game of the night between Ba and Rewa the referees gave a report that the ground is in unplayable conditions. Referee stated that it would be very difficult to continue with the game.
“Under the FIFA regulations it is the referee who decides to abandon the game. Since the referees made the decision there is nothing much we can do but implement the decision,” Dr. Sahu Khan said.
The Fiji FA President says the two matches will be played on day two (Friday) of the 2010 Courts IDC. Dr. Sahu Khan says Ba will battle Rewa at 11.30am while Suva will take on Nasinu 12.45pm.
Both these matches will be played at the TFL National Stadium in Suva.
Meanwhile in other results defending champions Navua made a strong start to their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Labasa. Dunadamu scored the lone goal for Navua in the 17th minute of the first spell.
In the second match Solomon Islander Cummins Menapi claimed a hat trick to help his Nadi side topple Nadroga 3-1.
