Greetings to All!#A fruitful and positive Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) board of control meeting took place last weekend at the National Academy in Ba. #The following are the outcomes from the meeting#• Women’s football will not be neglected and in light of this the board of control has decided that we will participate in the 2012 Oceania Football Confederation Under-20 (January) and U-17 (April) Women’s playoffs. #• A lot of emphasis will be put towards the local league competition. Each district will be required to have an Under 21 side, women’s associations and regular local league competition. Any district which will fail to fulfill the requirements will be ineligible to participate in the national league. Further details will be discussed at the next Fiji FA Council Meeting#• On player contracts- it is noted that few districts are putting up a huge sum for player release and transfer. The BOC looked into the matter and decided that soon set a standard and fixed sum for player release or transfer will apply. A minimum sum of $5000 has so far been looked as a ideal sum#• Protest filed in by Tailevu Naitasiri against Rakiraki has been disallowed. Thus Tailevu Naitasiri is now required to pay a sum of $200 to Rakiraki. #• Disciplinary case of Saiyad Ali has been deferred. Ali has asked for an extension and now the case will be heard at a later date. As for Claudio Canosa was not present at the meeting. His case was discussed and few issues need to be sorted out before further details are released. #• Few district associations are yet to submit their quarterly return. Due date was for September 30th 2011. BOC has decided that the remaining districts have to submit their returns by November 7th 2011, any association failing to meet the requirement will face a penalty#• Fiji FA awards night will be held on January 21st, 2012#• Imdad Ali has been named the head coach for the National men’s under-23 side for the Olympic playoffs in 2012. Ali will be assisted by Kamal Swamy. #• The BOC has decided that the 2012 Fiji FACT and Battle of the Giants tournament will be played over 90 minutes. The mechanism will be discussed at the next Fiji FA Council meeting. #• Futsal/Beach Soccer – from next year more emphasis will be given to beach soccer and futsal. The BOC has decided that separate registration will be put in place for players opting to play futsal and beach soccer. We have not been able to do this in the past as crucial futsal event did not give us the time to develop a new pool of players. #• BOC decided that the Champions League will be held from January 13th -15th 2012; Fiji FACT in Labasa from June 28th to July 1st 2012; Battle of the Giants in Nausori August 23rd to 26th 2012; Inter District Championship in Ba from October 10th -14th #• BOC have also proposed to have only the winners of the Fiji FA tournaments participate in the Champions League.
