Skipper Tuna Navua, Energizer 4R Electrical Ba, Weet-Bix Shop N Save Lautoka along with Puma Labasa picked up victories. Bic Power Electric Suva, Eveready Rewa, Nivea Savusavu and Sunquick Sigatoka Motor Spares Nadroga were on the losing end while Royal Tea Nadi and Angel Mackerel Tavua played to a 1-1 tie. #On Saturday it was sweet revenge for Ba as they overcame arch rival Rewa 2-0 in the opening match of the 2011 Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League. #Rewa were out to maintain their recent success over Ba and the home side dominated the first spell but failed to captailse. The delta tigers also welcomed their former star Usaia Tadu who is back with Rewa after playing a few seasons for Navua.#Ba put on a strong performance in the second spell to score twice. Petero Dauniseka found the back of the net in the 72nd minute when he fired a low shot towards the left hand side of the net, Rewa goalie Alfraaz Sahib mistimed his dive. Rewa quickly regrouped in an attempt to find the equaliser and Rewa coach/player Marika Rodu probably had the best chance to pull one back but he slipped near the Ba box. Roneel Kumar put the final nail in the coffin as he scored in extra time to help Ba secure three crucial points. #Elsewhere Nivea Savusavu did not get a dream start in their first Super Premier division after being promoted at the back end of last season. A 10th minute first half header from a corner kick by Taniela Waqa guided the Puma Labasa side to a 1-0 victory at Ganilau Park. #Royal Tea Nadi and Skipper Tuna Tavua played to a 1-1 draw at Garvey Park. Nadi lead 1-0 at the break following a goal from Viliame Toma. Tavua got their acts right in the second half, Savenaca Nasara equalised on the 48th minute.#On Sunday goals were scored in abundance as Navua thumped Suva 4-0 and Lautoka did the same to Nadroga winning 6-2 at Lawaqa Park. #The arrival of former Rewa mentor Manoj Kumar, top guns Thomas Vulivuli (former Labasa) Apisai Smith (former Lautoka) and National U-20 rep Akei Uluibau failed to spark the capital side.#Striker Jesoni Takala scored a brace of goals in the first half and Joseph Mishra added the third just before half time. #In the second half Suva made some tactical changes which saw Suva dominate in the early goings but super sub Sheik Moshin came off the bench and added Navua’s fourth which ended Suva’s fight.#Navua manager Krishneel Sharma says they could not have opted for a better start to the new National Football League season. He says they have set their sights to clinch their first League title. #“There is no reason why we cannot win the National League. We just have to be consistent and maintain our performance. A win over Suva in our first game is a good start. In the previous weeks we have been playing well in the Champions League. We took that into account and came out on top against Suva,” Sharma said. #Suva coach Manoj Kumar believes his side needs to regroup quickly and focus on their next match. #“We need to play a few more matches and I’m sure we will bounce back. Navua came off a strong Champions League. Against Navua I believe we played well and were the fitter side but only difference was the goals. Nothing should be taken away from our players. Two or three games we should be there,” Kumar said.#
