Ben gears up for playoffs

Back in the national squad for the 2011 event, the man from Taveuni who plys his trade with Navua these days says he is looking forward to don the Fiji jumper again. The 23 year old believes he is in a better position this time around to step up his performance in the shorten code. #“Beach soccer was new to me when I first participated during the 2009 playoffs. We prepared for a very short time and went straight into the playoffs. This time I believe we have ample time to learn more of the basics of the code.#“Judging from the experience I gained at the last playoffs, I think I’m now in a better position to do better then what I did last time,” Mateinaqara said.#Coming at the back end of a long 2010 season the former Tilak High school student believes he would not have any problem adapting to the shorten code.#“I do not see any problem adapting beach soccer as it is something that I enjoy playing and I hope to keep improving in time to come,” he said.#Other survivors in the current squad from the previous national beach soccer side include Sandeep Nair and Shalen Buisena. # Fiji FA MEDIA
