Following the successful launch of the league last weekend orgainsers are hopeful to have another good outing this Saturday. #Suva Football Association President Mahen Prasad who also heads the capital youth association believes these grassroots development programme will be vital for the progress of their district in the near future.#He adds that Suva FA will fully back this new initiative and hopes that talents development here in future will turn up to represent the Suva senior district side.#“Suva FA is going to now be involved in youth football which will see us being involved in all age-group categories. This is something which was not done in the past and if this had been done then we would not have to rely on players from outside for the Suva team. #“We have appointed a manager Mr. Umesh Chand who will be working closely with us. The whole idea is to develop players who in future will come up to represent Suva,” Prasad said.#Competition started last Saturday whereby ten matches were played. Parents turned out in huge numbers to support their children. Teams fielded both boys and girls in their sides.#Prasad says they would look to start competition in other age groups soon.#Co-ordinator of the under-12 league Vikash Nair elaborated further. #“A under 12 Suva Youth Team will be selected from these league which will qualify to play in the Suva under 14 league which will commence straight after we round off the under 12 league.
