Tahiti, Solomons are coming

Anil Sharma the national team director says this will be part of their preparation for the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia. #He said fans can expect some top class sides with the likes of Solomon Islands and Tahiti headed here. #“Solomons and Tahiti national sides have confirmed that they are coming to play two matches each against our national side,” Sharma said. #“These two sides have a lot of quality players and they should give us a tough match which no doubt will assist in our preparation.”#Sharma says the four international matches will be a perfect substitute for the cancelled Australian tour. #“The tour to Australia has been called off. At this time it is very cold in Australia and most quality teams are in their off-season. I think it will be ideal to play teams like Solomons, and Tahiti as these are the sort of teams we will face at the Pacific Games in New Caledonia.”#Bob Kumar the Fiji Football Association chief executive officer elaborated further. #“These international matches have been confirmed. Solomon’s will be here from July 3-8 while Tahiti from July 26 to August 3. At the FIFA congresses in Zurich we will meet their association’s respective presidents to finalise the matter,” Kumar said. #The national side last played an international match against the New Zealand All Whites in 2008. On that occasion they beat them 2-0 at Churchill Park. #Fiji FA President Dr. Muhammed Shams-UD-Dean Sahu Khan, senior vice president Dr Hari Kewal, CEO Bob Kumar, vice president and national team director Anil Sharma are currently at the FIFA congress in Zurich. # Fiji FA MEDIA # # #
