These were the views of Lautoka head coach Gurjit Singh who believes his side was unfortunate to settle for a 2-2 draw against Rewa last Sunday at Govind Park in Ba.
“It was unfortunate that we drew with Rewa. We could have easily won the match but were not able to capitalize on the chances we had,” Singh said.
“Lautoka will come out strong in the match against Ba who are a very good side. With the current set of players we have Lautoka should be able to beat Ba.”
Following a 2-1 win over Navua last Sunday Ba will surely be out for a similar outcome against Lautoka. Ba Football Association Vice President Anil Amin says the task for them is to better their last Sunday’s performance.
“Our goal this season is to do something better than what we did last season. There are no comments to make at the moment for the game against Lautoka but we will try to improve on our performance,” Amin said.
Match day two of the Pillay Garments Champions League continues tonight with matches scheduled in the southern and western division. At 6.30pm Rewa hosts Navua at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori and later at 7pm Lautoka battles arch rivals Ba at Churchill Park.
Rewa President Pranil Singh has urged all the delta tiger’s fans to come out in numbers to support the team.
“I think we will up against a very experienced Navua side and it is going to be a repeat of the 2011 Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants final. I urge all the Rewa fans to come out in numbers to support us. The draw against Lautoka was better than a loss as it still keeps us in the hunt,” Singh said.
On the other hand Navua President Anil Sharma is hopeful that his side bounces back from the 2-1 loss to Ba.
“We had weakness in two major areas last weekend. Firstly in the defence which cost us the two goals and secondly in our finishing as we could not score. We do not have time to work in these two areas but hopefully we can improve in the match against Rewa,” Sharma said.
