Navua thumps Suva

The arrival of former Rewa mentor Manoj Kumar, top guns Thomas Vulivuli, Apisai Smith and National U-20 rep Akei Uluibau failed to spark the capital side.#Navua who is coming off a strong Pillay Garments Champions League campaign were on their toes from the first whistle.#Jesoni Takala scored a brace of goals in the first half and Joseph Mishra added the third just before half time. #In the second half Suva made some tactical changes which saw Suva dominate in the early goings. Super sub Sheik Moshin came off the bench and added Navua’s fourth which ended Suva’s fight.#Navua manager Krishneel Sharma says they could not have opted for a better start to the new National Football League season. He says they have set their sights to clinch their first League title. #“There is no reason why we cannot win the National League. We just have to be consistent and maintain our performance. A win over Suva in our first game is a good start. In the previous weeks we have been playing well in the Champions League. We took that into account and came out on top against Suva,” Sharma said. #Suva coach Manoj Kumar believes his side needs to regroup quickly and focus on their next match. #“We need to play a few more matches and I’m sure we will bounce back. Navua came off a strong Champions League. Against Navua I believe we played well and were the fitter side but only difference was the goals. Nothing should be taken away from our players. Two or three games we should be there,” Kumar said. #Suva travels to New Zealand on Wednesday to participate in the 2011 Radio Apna Fiji Cup.
