And top local striker and New Zealand based Roy Krishna had a timely message for the young players who have been part of the Youth League this season.
Krishna who is in his fourth season with Waitakare United was one talent that was identified through the local age group programme. The Siberia lad climbed the ranks to don the senior national team jumper and secure a contract in New Zealand.
Krishna is now urging the youth players in Fiji to put in the hard yards in order to taste glory.
“For the young players in Fiji my message is for them to keep up the hard work and one day they might get the chance like me to play for a club in New Zealand. This is my fourth season in New Zealand and I have really enjoyed my time here,” Krishna said.
Fiji Football Association youth director and vice president Rajesh Patel is expecting some competitive football.
“The youth players have now been exposed at this level and they now know what to expect. The players of who most are school students have completed their school commitments and they will have ample time to prepare for the matches.”
“I hope that the best come out in the players and they work hard to maintain the standard set earlier this season,” Patel said.
