Begum commonly known as “Beckham” in the local football scene has been in camp full time with the National Women’s squad since August.#Her employees have been generous to transfer her to the Suva based Jacks Fiji Adidas branch located at Mid City complex in Suva while pursing her dream to don the National jumper. #“I have been working very hard and confident that I will get a spot in the National Women’s side to the Nations Cup in NZ. It will be tough though as a lot of good players are in the squad and I believe everyone has an equal chance to don the National Jumper.#“Being away from home I sometimes miss home but a chance to represent the country does not come often and I need to make the most of it,” Begum said#Begum last represented the National Women’s side in the 2006 U-20 Oceania playoffs in Samoa. A year missed out on the 2007 Pacific Games side due to personal commitments.#She was scouted as a possible talent for National duties during her high schools days in Nadi Muslim where she represented the schools U-16 boys’ side. #“The Nations Cup is not the end but the beginning. The 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia are major tournaments to look forward to. I have set my personal goal and the support from my family which should help me prosper,” Begum said.#The Nadi based player earlier this year was also part of the Fiji Football Association delegation for the 2010 Pacific Youth Conference in NZ. #The 2010 OFC Women’s Nations Cup is also the playoffs for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany. #
