Navua gears for IDC defence

Anil Sharma the Navua Football Association President and Fiji Football Association Southern Vice President says his side is well aware of the utmost task which awaits them.#“It is probably a much tougher task to defend then to actually prepare to win a tournament. Being the defending champions all teams will be out to snatch the title,” Sharma said. #Navua plays the opening match of the 2010 Courts IDC tomorrow afternoon 5.30pm against arch rivals Labasa. Sharma anticipates the babasiga lions to be out in full force to upset his Navua side. #“First up we are in for a tough match against Labasa who are an unpredictable side and sure to come right at us with a challenge,” he said. #Navua won their first Courts IDC title last year at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. On that occasion the southern giants beat Shop N Save Lautoka 2-0. #Sharma says preparation under the guidance of top coach Gurjit Singh has been going on well.#“Preparation has been good as just recently we completed the Fiji Sun/Weet-Bix National Football League. We have some niggling injuries to Taniela Waqa, Robert Laua, Seveci Rokotakala and Pene Erenio but they should be fine by the start of the IDC,” he said.#Sharma added that Solomon’s duo Elliot Ragomo and Laua have been retained for the Courts IDC. The Navua President says US based Stephen Clemens and New Zealand lad Salesh Kumar who both were part of the victorious 2009 IDC side will be back to add further boost. #Fiji FA MEDIA
