Greetings to all#It is indeed a pleasure to share a thought on this column. As many would already know, I was appointed as Acting Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) President during the last board of control meeting. Stepping into this role has no doubt been an honour and privilege for me and I would like to thank the Fiji FA board for having faith in me.#Development#Since stepping in the role my immediate task has been to study our various development programmes to see where we are going wrong and what needs to be done. Target at the moment is the Primary and Secondary schools where we will shortly work out ways to strengthen this programmes. The Local league competitions around the various districts are also of concern to us. Local League is a must and soon we will be having meetings with districts who are not holding their local league competition and see what the problem is.#Another area we will be looking at is the various development centers around the country to see they are actively running with the various age group programmes.#Development is the way forward for Fiji FA and we will make sure that we leave no stones unturned with vice presidents Rajesh Patel and Dewan Chand currently looking after the affairs of our technical department.#Pacific Games#The 2011 Pacific Games is just around the corner and our target simply is to win gold in both the men’s and women’s competition. Team director Anil Sharma has been working tirelessly with the team management to see that the best national side is prepared for the Noumea Games. We are still missing some players who are sure to boost our campaign further as we near finalising the 20-member squad.#Emergency Meeting#We will be having a board of control meeting sometime next week. There are some immediate issues to resolve and we will be looking forward to a fruitful meeting. Before the Courts IDC we plan to visit all the districts to have a meeting with them. We will get their grievances and try to solve them. Also we will monitor district officials and try to iron the ones who are not doing anything. “THEY MUST GO” for the betterment of football in that particular district. #General#I would like to ask the football fans to support us as our national sides prepare for the Pacific Games. We feel short in 2007 but there are high hopes that we will go out there and better our previous record. Also five vice presidents have come out in support of Rajesh Patel to contest for the President’s post during the annual Fiji FA congress. Yogeshwar Singh will be contesting for the Southern vice president and myself the Northern Vice President.#
