12 teams at Women’s IDC

Defending champion Suva will be out in full force to retain the prestigious title. Other sides gunning to knock Suva out are Navua, Nasinu, Rewa, Lami, Nadroga, Ba, Nadi, Lautoka, Labasa, Rakiraki and Tavua. #The women’s IDC will be held from December 2-4 and will coincide with the National Club Championship Western zonal playoffs. #Rakiraki, Nadroga are making their return to the annual event after opting out last year while Lami makes their debut. #Fiji FA Women’s director Susan Wise anticipates this year’s event to carry on from the success of last year’s event. #“Twelve teams have confirmed their participation for this year’s event and it is good to see that the district of Lami will for the first time be taking part in the Women’s IDC,” Wise said. #“This tournament would be interesting as Suva will be out to retain their title while Labasa will want to follow in their men’s side footsteps and win the IDC. Other teams cannot be written off just yet and all teams stand equal chance to win.”#The women’s director said the IDC was vital in terms of selection for the national side.#“There will be selection done at this event, we have got the senior, Under 20 and U17 national sides participating in Oceania playoffs next year. With 12 teams participating this should give the coaches a wide base of players to select from.” #Wise adds that Fiji FA will cater for travel grants, accommodation and partial meal allowance for the 12 teams. # Fiji FA MEDIA#
