Organized by the Ultimate Sports Travel and Events the event kick off last Monday and will conclude on Friday. #Churchill and Govind Park are the two venues booked for the weeklong event. #Two men’s U17 side from Australia and two local sides make up the men’s competition. One Australia and New Zealand secondary school side along with two local sides make up the women’s competition. # “Many of the players in Fiji do not get the opportunity to play against overseas sides. A tournament like the Ultimate Cup provides our young players the chance to international exposure against these overseas based sides. This is a positive step as far as development is concerned,” Janeman said. #With the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Under 17 playoffs next year, Janeman believes this is a good opportunity for the national selectors to gauge the talents. #“We have fielded two U17 squads in this competition. This will indeed be a good build up especially as we are preparing for the 2013 OFC U17 playoffs.”#The Ultimate Cup was first held last year. Janeman says that hopes are high to see this event become an annual one. #Day One of the competition kicked off at Churchill Park last Monday. Fiji men’s B side lost in the first match 6-1 to NSW. Our A side put up a string performance but fell short losing 4-2.#The Fiji A Women’s side managed to draw 0-0 against IFG Aust Women while Fiji B lost 6-1 to New Zealand Women. #Day Two of the competition was played at Govind Park.
